Current Job Openings

Q. Where can I find current job openings?

All our current job openings are listed on our careers page. You can filter positions by department, location, or type of employment. All our open positions can be found here.

Q. Can I apply for multiple positions?

Yes, you can apply for multiple positions. Please ensure you understand and meet the criteria for each position you are applying for. Our services may have similar job specifications; however, the requirements may vary depending on the type of service and role. Please note that we are unable to delay any recruitment processes because a candidate has applied for more than one role. If you are successful in a position, it is the candidate’s responsibility to withdraw from other posts which have been applied to.

Q. What should I include in my application?

Your application should include your CV (you can manually type this if you wish for some of our posts), a cover letter, and any other supporting statement and documents requested in the job posting, such as a portfolio.

Think about your transferrable skills, knowledge on the service area and role, and what you can bring to the role. Listing examples of your experiences (professionally and non-professional) can help!

Recruitment Process

Q. What does the Recruitment process look like?

Our Hiring Managers take lead on the recruitment of their positions, after you have submitted your application, you will receive an acknowledgement email. The hiring team will then review your application. For most of our roles, applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis.

The hiring team will then begin shortlisting, this will usually include a screening call if shortlisted.

Interviews are usually held face to face, and at times may be via teams. You will receive an invitation to choose your slot via email.

Some roles may require a second stage interview, and tasks may form part of the process depending on the role.

The hiring team will then consult with each other on the outcome of your application, and you will receive communication notifying you of their decision.

Q. Will I be notified if I am not successful?

Yes, we inform all applicants of the outcome of your application/interview. Unfortunately, due to the number of applications we receive, we are generally unable to provide personalised feedback.

If you have interviewed with us for any of our roles and would like to request personalised feedback, you may request this by emailing recruitment@socialinterestgroup.org.uk.

Your request will then be reviewed by the Talent Acquisition team who will get back to you with an outcome.

Q. Can I re-apply if I am not successful?

Absolutely! You are welcome to apply for other openings that match your qualifications and interests.

Q. How does the organisation ensure an inclusive recruitment process?

We are committed to shaping an inclusive recruitment process, whilst we mainly accept applications via our careers site, should you require additional support, alternative methods, or have any questions, you can reach out to our Talent Acquisition team who can support you in making your application. As part of your application form, you can list any reasonable adjustments you require. The hiring team will discuss with you how to best to meet the needs of your request where possible. Should you not be able to add this to your application process or miss the opportunity to, you can always email our team with your request, and we will action this in a timely manner as possible. We are committed to making our recruitment process accessible to everyone. Our interview panels will always consist of more than one hiring manager to help reduce any bias and allow various perspectives. We are committed to empower our hiring managers through training and other initiatives to upskill and empower them to make good decisions. We aim to treat all candidates fairly and provide equitable opportunities throughout the recruitment journey.

Onboarding Process

Q. What kind of background checks are carried out?

As we work closely with vulnerable groups of people, we have a comprehensive Safer Recruitment process.

Alongside general Right to Work checks, we complete an Enhanced DBS check, Occupational Health Assessment, and References covering 2 – 5 years. We may complete further vetting such as BPSS and prison clearance, depending on the role. This is to meet our contractual and safeguarding obligations as an employer for our staff, resident, participant groups, and stakeholders.

Q. How long does onboarding take?

The hiring process timeline can vary. This is due to the time it can take to receive a completed DBS (and other vetting if required for the role), it can also vary depending on how many references are required and how quickly we receive a response.

Sponsorship

Q. Do you offer sponsorship?

Unfortunately, we do not offer sponsorship or hold a sponsor license. We require all applicants to hold a valid Right to Work in the UK.

Q. I am sponsored by a company, and I am looking for secondary employment. Am I able to apply for your positions?

When sponsorship is granted via a company and candidates gain Right to Work in the UK, they can usually work an additional 20 hours a week. This varies depending on the sponsorship. As long as the role you are applying for fits within the limit of hours and does not conflict with any terms, we welcome your application!

Working at SIG

Q. What is the company culture like?

We thrive to create a company culture which is collaborative, inclusive, and innovative, and lives by our values of: Ambition, Empowerment, Transparency, and Inclusivity.

Our company culture is driven by our employees as individuals and within their teams. We value teamwork, creativity, and continuous learning.

Q. Do you offer remote/flexible work options?

You can put in a flexible work request from your first day of employment. We treat all requests on a case-by-case basis.

The opportunities to offer people their preferred flexible working option will depend on the needs of the service and the role and will follow ACAS guidance.

Our job adverts will always list the shift pattern for the role. This may vary and it’s best to ask the hiring manager for more information during the screening stages.
