I joined Social Interest Group as an Engagement and Activities Worker in March 2022. This was the first professional role in my career, as I had finished university the summer before. I graduated from the University of Kent with a degree in Social Sciences. My personal aims aligned with SIG’s values, aims, and theory of change, and I was inspired to start working within this sector and charity. I completed several trainings and grew in confidence through my interactions and the support provided. This led to me building meaningful relationships and having positive outcomes in my service.

When I joined SIG at OPD HASS Farley Road back in 2020, I thought it would be a brief stint—a few months to gain some experience before moving to work for the NHS. Fast forward to today, and I’m still here four years later, grateful for the choice to build my career within SIG.

I joined SIG in September 2022 as initially the Early Years Practitioner for Bridge House. I remember when Alex Sinclair called me to offer me the position and I burst into tears thanking her. Working in a mother and baby service was my dream and it was about to come true.

When I transferred to Synergy Brent, part of the Social Interest Group, in March 2023, I joined as a Deputy Service Manager. Within just four weeks, I had the privilege of interviewing for the Service Manager role—and here I am today, proud to lead this incredible team.

My first experience with SIG was as a participant at SIG Penrose Roots. I started attending the project during my own recovery journey. I started attending many local mental health support groups at this time, but I stuck with Roots, even after I went back to my previous job, because I could feel there was genuine experience behind the service.
